Mizell Senior Center Receives Meals on Wheels Funding
Mizell Senior Center is pleased to announce the receipt of a grant award from The Walmart Foundation in the amount of $35,000. The grant is specifically directed to increasing Meals On Wheels delivery to the most underprivileged areas of the Coachella Valley, including the unincorporated areas of Thermal, Mecca, and North Shore Salton Sea as well as the City of Coachella and City of Desert Hot Springs. This grant award furthers the Walmart Foundation focus on hunger relief and healthy eating.
“We are especially excited to be the recipients of this generous award for strengthening our Meals On Wheels Program throughout the Valley” stated Ginny Foat, Executive Director of Mizell Senior Center. “This grant award is a critical component in our overall plans to increase service and become more efficient in delivering the vital Meals On Wheels Program to the seniors in the most neglected areas of the Coachella Valley” continued Foat. “We were especially gratified to receive this award to support our Meals On Wheels Program to the poor, frail, and homebound seniors” added Mark Marshall, Mizell Board President.
