Galilee Center

About

Our Mission: To fulfill the needs of the underprivileged and disadvantage by providing food, clothing, and other basic needs and affirm their dignity with love, compassion and respect. Galilee Center History Galilee Center started Thursday, July 29, 2010 by providing canned food baskets to underprivileged families who came to the location at the intersection of Harrison Street and Avenue 66 in Thermal. A generous family allowed us to use the back yard of their property and that is where we continue to be today, under a tree. The first day of service, a group of 12 volunteers helped with the packing and distribution of the food baskets and 98 families showed up during the evening hours; each one received a canned food basket. Just two months after we opened our doors, the number of families increased to 120 and the distribution of goods included fresh produce, clothing, shoes and house hold items. People knew about the food distribution mainly through word of mouth and distribution of flyers in Thermal Senior Center, local area markets and Indian reservation.
