Mission Statement: The mission of the Pendleton Foundation is to assist Coachella Valley families who are dealing with cancers of all kinds. Since each cancer is as unique as each individual, our goal will be to support families in their decisions regarding treatment through financial assistance according to our bylaws in order to ease the financial impact upon their households. Founded in 2005, the Foundation is named for Karen Pendleton who was diagnosed with a highly aggressive form of colon cancer and could not afford the treatment necessary to save her life. The Pendletons, along with the help of friends and Chef Herve Glin, organized a chef’s auction to help raise money for Karen’s surgery. More than 20 of the Valley’s top chefs were auctioned off for private dinners and thanks to the money raised, Karen was able to have a successful surgery. She now has been cancer free for over ten years. Today the non-profit organization is dedicated to helping meet the financial needs of Coachella Valley residents suffering from cancer. According to the Pendleton Foundation President Sean Roberts, the organization distributes more than $20,000 per month to local residents in need.
