Joslyn Center Welcomes New Executive Director


The Joslyn (Senior) Center proudly announces the appointment of Jack Newby as its new Executive Director. He brings a wealth of experience with nonprofit organizations and championing senior issues.

 Jack has over 15 years of diversified and successful experience in non-profit management from the LGBT Center and AIDS Project Long Beach to the last seven years with the Mizell Senior Center in Palm Springs where he most recently served as the Director of Marketing and Development. Jack has a broad range of experience in fund development, grant writing, public policy, public relations and organizational development experience. He holds a Masters degree in Organizational management and a Juris Doctorate. In addition, Jack serves as a Director on the Desert Communities Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

Jack is welcomed by Joslyn Center’s 2017-2018 Board Officers: 

Aurora Wilson, President; Ed Walsh, Vice President; Barry Kaufman, Treasurer; Mary Gilstrap, Secretary; and Board Members Berrylynn Freeby, Beverly Fitzgerald, Eileen Packer, Berit Reistad, Anna Rodriguez, and Karen Wendt, along with the Joslyn Staff.


MISSION STATEMENT:  Joslyn Center provides health, recreational, educational and social programs along with information, referral, volunteer and support services for adults aged 50 years + living in the communities of Palm Desert, Rancho Mirage and Indian Wells
