Regional Access Project (RAP) Foundation Celebrates Silver Anniversary, New Building
The Regional Access Project (RAP) Foundation is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year, and it will be accompanied by the Grand Opening of its new headquarters.
For the first time in its quarter century of existence, RAP will own the building it occupies, and the large new facility will allow the “nonprofit which serves nonprofits” to expand its ability to help client organizations to expand their capacities and self-sustaining abilities.
“We are doing so by growing our Center for Nonprofit Advancement (CNA), increasing our resources to assist nonprofits in their attempts to become financially sustainable,” says RAP CEO Leticia De Lara. “The CNA program continues to offer weekly workshops, webinars, consulting services with nonprofit experts, along with networking opportunities.
“Our new facility will not only be our first building purchase, but it will allow us to more effectively serve our clients.”
RAP will once again partner with Southern California Grantmakers (SCG) in hosting the 2017 Nonprofit Conference at the Double Tree Hotel in Cathedral City. The theme of this year’s Nonprofit Conference is “Opening the Door to Excellence,” and, in addition to the expertise of regional and nationally-recognized experts, the Conference will once again feature “Desert Fast Pitch, a game show-like contest in which local nonprofit leaders will give short “pitches” to potential funders. RAP will award three organizations a total of $45,000 during this competition. Awards given to semi-finalists amount to another $32,000, along with the months-long tutoring and education benefits of the Desert Fast Pitch program.
Better mark your calendar, though, because this October tradition moves to September 28 this year, from 8:30 a.m. till 4 p.m.
“We had a tremendous success with last year’s event,” CEO De Lara says. “But this year we plan to make it even better.”
“We are anticipating more than 300 nonprofit professionals who will benefit—and not just because of the featured speakers, workshops, panel discussion and vendor expositions, but also from the collaborations which can grow out of the networking atmosphere.”
“It’s very educational and productive, but it’s also –can I use this word?—‘fun.’”
Featured speakers include Jan Masaoka, CEO of California Association of Nonprofits, and the man who inspired the 2005 Paramount movie “Coach Carter.” Ken Carter knows a thing or two about giving to community.
