Marquee Academy of Performing Arts
Marquee Academy of Performing Arts (MAPA) is here to enrich and change our community through music, affecting people of all ages, backgrounds and walks of life. We are on a mission to transform lives through music. MAPA is a non-profit music school dedicated to bringing all aspects of the musical experience to our community. At MAPA, students will be surrounded by a supportive circle of artists, who have a love and knowledge of the arts and most importantly, a deep desire to teach their craft to the next generation. Marquee Academy Announces Collaboration and Move. Marquee Academy of Performing Arts has become an integral part of the lives of hundreds of children and their families through high-quality music education programs teaching piano, drums, ukulele, guitar, musicianship, music history, music of the world, acting, singing and dance year-round. Since opening five years ago at 441 South Palm Canyon Drive, Marquee’s goal to bring music back into the community has made music education more accessible and helps fill the gaps where schools no longer provide music and arts due to budget cuts. “Our needs at Marquee have changed,” says Director Leslie Demuth. “Marquee has become a “musical safe-house” for children of all ages, abilities and needs – and we witness the miracles of music every day – the stories will give you tears of joy and goose-bumps. “We are serving more students (especially with our free Saturday classes) and more specialized space is needed says Demuth.” Marquee’s world-class team of musicians and educators will be partnering with the Palm Springs Cultural Center and positions us to have even greater impact. “The Arts are vital to the strength of our community,” says Marquee President Matthew Naylor. “There is a need for non-profits in the arts to work together to keep the arts alive by supporting each other and fundraising together. We look forward to collaborating and partnering with the Palm Springs Cultural Center. Marquee Academy’s new location at the Cultural Center office complex at 2100 Tahquitz Canyon Way. “We are not leaving our community,” says Naylor. “We are building our ‘Performing Arts Village’ and will continue to inspire our students and others to great positive heights.
