SafeHouse of the Desert

SafeHouse of the Desert provides immediate help to youth and families experiencing crisis situations. Our 20-bed shelter is well equipped to handle runaway, homeless, and other youth in crisis ages 11-17. Shelter services operate 24/7 and include 21-days of individual, group, and family counseling, on-site education, and aftercare. Parents who are interested in early intervention are encouraged to call us to set up a screening for their child. A Marriage and Family Therapist will guide them through program expectations and what the family as a whole will receive from our holistic approach to crisis intervention. Our 18-month transitional living program is designed to support homeless young adults between 18 and 22 seeking the ability and motivation to become productive, independent, and self-sufficient citizens. Residents live in Harrison House apartments and receive guidance and support to enhance their education, develop financial stability, maintain positive relationships, and set appropriate goals for future self-sufficiency. SafeHouse serves as co-chair of the Riverside County Anti-Human Trafficking Task Force ensuring comprehensive care to all trafficking victims – minors and adults, domestic and foreign nationals. Our philosophy is to bridge the gap of awareness about human trafficking; to establish a common ground of information and knowledge on the issue to prevent future cases, identify victims, equip our jury pool, and increase the knowledge and tools to equip the community, service providers, legal, and law enforcement. SafeHouse ensures that each victim is offered comprehensive case management services. “What’s Up” by SafeHouse is our downloadable phone app that provides anonymous text-communication, 24 /7 with a licensed mental health professional from SafeHouse. Young people who are struggling with drug or alcohol abuse, depression, difficult family situations, bullying and other issues can receive help while maintaining anonymity. Youth are also encouraged text about any friends they feel may be struggling or are in danger.Download the app or text our toll-free number 844.823.5323 to connect with a trained counselor. SafeHouse is here for youth in crisis, every hour of every day.
